Prompt 7: The Speckled Blonde
By: spiritodellafenice (Team Sexy Extras)
Trigger warnings for suicide.
It had been a good plan. Everything was in order. The poison had worked as it should and no one suspected a thing. Hell, he even went out of his way to improvise the snake’s bite on Julia’s ankles. It was open and, shut. She had contracted some illness that made her die, or it was an accidental death by her fiancé’s snakes. So why then, were Sherlock Holmes and his assistant still nosing about?
It made him very nervous. The man was sharp, nothing like he’d ever seen. Pacing in his office, Doctor Roylott knew that they would be onto him very soon. With a sigh, he took out his phone and dialed Helen. He’d have to know how close they were…
“Hello Helen, dear, I’m just calling to see how the investigation is going. Why on earth would they have spent the night? No, sweetheart, you should have told me! Well…it’s not right. You were alone with two men, for heaven’s sake! Well did they find anything? I don’t know – she did go out with…Yes, I know she trusted them, but you know I never really liked them. They did take something? D-d’you – Why? Yes, why on earth can’t you tell me? Who the hell will I tell? Yes, yes fine! I’ll see you soon, darling.” The call was ended and Doctor Roylott sent his phone flying across the room.
It had to have been the shampoo bottles that they took. What else could it have been? Why hadn’t he thought about switching them before the men came nosing about? Running a harried hand through his hair, he came to a conclusion.
He wouldn’t do time for this. He’d worked so hard. They wouldn’t get to him. He didn’t have much time left. Runing out of the country was out of the question. He glanced up at the ceiling and the answer came to him.
Hurrying, walked around the house with his head turned upwards. Before long, he found the right height and went to get a rope. By the time that detective found him, he’d be long gone.
